@japanwings Did you design and print that yourself? I'm trying to get 'a better bezel' printed.

If i was in your shoes and i had spare heatsinks laying around i would still put one on a Pi Zero just as a safety precaution and also like you said you are using a case for the Zero which leaves no ventilation for it as well.
Overall always best to be safe than to be sorry after.

I successfully am using an NES Advantage on RetroPie 4.2.3

I have an NES to USB Adapter plugged into the Raspberry and connect the NES Advantage to the adapter.

I do notice a problem when I boot the Raspberry Pi and the NES Advantage has the SLOW button turned on. The Pi also did not detect the controller the first time when I had the SLOW button turned on. With the SLOW and TURBO buttons turned off the Pi detects the controller without any problem. Then when I load and start playing a game I can turn the SLOW and TURBO buttons on or off without problem. For me, it seems only when the Pi is booting that I cannot have the TURBO and SLOW buttons on or else the controller does not work (I also get stuck on EMULATION STATION LOADING screen when booting up with the SLOW button turned on).

@Pixel0501 not sure what you exactly mean, but every controller has its own config (at least for the ReteoArch cores/emulators). It's usually at /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/JOYSTICK_NAME.cfg.

Glad to see this one was answered, my next build is going to be a palmtop, with emphasis on the Desktop and games secondary, so just using a mini keyboard.

@itsnitro I'd like to say it is ready for sale, but in reality I think it still needs some work, and Im not convinced that the people who mod these screens to work with 5v know if it works well or not, I am doing some testing to see if the screen will last or degrade.

I may well post revision 2 for sale somewhere.

I tested battery life out last night and it was easily 2 hours of play time. If I had a battery indicator in it and auto shut down then I would consider it a saleable product, right now its a bit niche.

Well after some trouble shooting the silly chinease guy who made the hub had swapped the data lines over, so the colours were not inline with the standard.

      all working hunky dorey now.

@Butters_52 I had the same problem but it was because of my USB hub.

Try and unplug everything except power and HDMI and see if it runs then.

If so possible PSU issue as buzz said

I think it deserves props for having six face buttons so you can play MegaDrive games properly, while still having the shoulder buttons for SNES.

I test this during last month and in my opinion, the best is :
Nes lr-fceumm or lr-quicknes (lr-nestopia is too heavy)
Snes lr-snes9x2005 or 2002 for compatibility (2010 too heavy, and the standalone pisnes and snes9x-rpi is egual to 2002), forgot fx games ... (Staaarrrrfoooxxxx)
      Gb, gbc lr-gambatte
      gba lr-mgba
      sms, genesis/megadrive, CD lr-picodrive
      tg16, CD lr-pce-fast

for arcade game (in bonus) imame4all (standalone) and pifba (for cps games, and neogeo)
NO RETROARCH CORE FOR ARCADE, all are with abusive lagging with pi0w
neogeo pocket and color : no solution, mednafen is lagging in pi zero w
      psx : i don't know, if someone knows ...
      n64: i doubt it ...
      dreamcast: XD
output in 640*480, global in 1080p (not 720p picodrive still laging oO) , no overclocking with 0,5 A , pi-crt shaders, overlays gb, gbc, gba in 480p and with all of it, it work like a charm ...

When attempting to compile using Debian I was getting kernel panics and references to null pointers in memory. After trying a different SD Card, Cables, and power sources everything has only began to work once I've bought a new Pi.

I can only assume I've got a faulty unit?

Regardless I'm now able to run RetroPie on the exact same setup (with the Pi swapped out).

@djoveryde I know it can get frustrating. I have a few Zeroes myself and they're touchy. I guess that's what you get with a $5 computer.

@atexplosion said in Pi Zero and Retroarch:

@Dochartaigh Well I actually ran Turtles in Time on the Pi Zero and it looked fine to me. When the level screen showed, you could see the villain instead of the silhouette.

It runs at around 85% speed at (frequent) times with the default lr-imame4all emulator (non-overclocked) is all I'm saying.
